YAG Laser Capsulotomy

Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is a common cause of blurred or misty vision after cataract surgery. It occurs when the thin membrane behind the artificial lens becomes cloudy, often causing glare and reduced clarity. This is not a return of the cataract.

YAG laser capsulotomy is a quick, safe, and painless outpatient laser procedure that restores clear vision. The laser creates a small opening in the cloudy membrane without touching the lens. Treatment takes only a few minutes, uses eye drops rather than injections, and vision usually improves within hours to days. Once treated, PCO does not return.

Cost: from £705 (one eye) £1,205 (both eyes)
